While Elaine and I were looking at the heirs of Benjamin Hawkins in Mercer County, Elaine happened to notice another Hawkins deed entry. It is Deed Book 10, p. 225 in the Mercer County land information on Family Search.
I do not know which family group this information belongs to. If you do know, please send me a comment.
The deed is in 1816. Edmund Hawkins has died. I think that his children are selling his land but I can't remember for sure.....and if I take the time to go back and look, I won't get this done. But his three children are named in the deed:
Joseph with wife Georgeanne, Littleberry with wife Mary, and Mary Ann with husband Hudson Martin.
Edmond Hawkins son of John Hawkins and Mary Langford of Hanover County, Virginia,(listed in John's will) married 4 July 1780 in Powhatan Co. VA Mary Netherland, daughter of John Netherland who lists my daughter Mary Hawkins her children, Joseph, Littleberry, and Mary Ann Hawkins in his will bearing date of 4 August 1803 in Powhatan Co. VA.
ReplyDeleteEdmond Hawkins owned lots of land which could have been bought in Fayette Co. VA, but split when County lines changed. He is listed in 1795 tax rolls of Fayette Co.
paid taxes in the following Counties, Woodford, Harrison, Mercer, Fayette, Campbell. He is also listed with the same lands in the other counties. His brothers Martin, James, and John Hawkins are also listed in the 1795 Fayette County tax roll
Edmond received patents of 1000 Acres in Fayette County, on the waters of Jessamine 26 January 1786 and 400 acres on the waters of Clear Creek in Fayette bearing the same date.
Joseph Hawkins mr George Ann Nicholas 3 July 1808 in Fayette Co. KY
Littleberry mr Mary C Dumes 27 March 1816 Fayette Co. KY
Mary Ann Hawkins mr Martin Hudson Jr. 31 December 1802 Amherst Co. VA

Thanks, Sandi! That is very helpful! I think that it has been confusing to me that there is a male named Littleberry in both Hawkins family group #1 and also in the John and Mary Langford Hawkins line ....which I am unclear belongs to which yDNA family group.....But here is proof that there is more than one Littleberry Hawkins.
ReplyDeleteIn the John Netherland will he lists a son Littleberry Netherland. I haven't looked at anything one the Netherlands except for Mary and Edmond Hawkins, and the John Netherland's son John was married to Mary Thurston grand daughter of John Hawkins and Mary Langford. So I just wonder if there was a female Littleberry.
