Thomas Wyatt Hawkins

While looking for something else, I stumbled over a website that reminds me somewhat of Milly Farmer's Book:  Bits and Pieces.

https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~markfreeman/history/hawkins.html

144. John D.9 Hawkins (Philemon8, [Unknown]7, [Unknown]6, John Sidney5, Richard (Sir)4, John (Sir)3, William2, John1) was born 08 Apr 1720 in Gloucester Co., VA or Charles City Co., VA. He married Mary Wyatt Abt. 1744 in Probably Bute Co., NC, daughter of Henry Wyatt and Mary Wynne. She was born 20 Sep 1726 in Caroline Co., VA.

Notes for John D. Hawkins:

Abt. 1735 moved from Virginia to North Carolina.

Did this couple have a son, Isham Hawkins, who had a grandson named Wyatt Hawkins? Did they have a son, Benjamin Hawkins, who married Phoebe Jones?

It appears that they had a daughter Sarah Hawkins who married William Caller, son of Robert Caller, from this record:

Will Book 4, Warren Co. NC, page 54

Agreement between Robert Caller and Salley, widow of his son William, lately deceased, with reference to Adm. of estate, property from her father John Hawkins, and guardianship of her infant son Charles.

Salley Caller married James Gordon 6/23/1787.

Children of John Hawkins and Mary Wyatt are:

+ 237 i. Mary10 Hawkins, born 1746; died Sep 1830 in Oglethorpe, GA.

+ 238 ii. Philemon Hawkins V, born Aft. 1748.

239 iii. Wyatt Hawkins, born Abt. 1752; died Aft. 1782. He married Frances Burford; born Abt. 1750.

+ 240 iv. Ann Hawkins, born Abt. 1755 in Granville Co., NC.

Nicholas Hawkins who married Elizabeth Long

I googled "what Hawkins male married Elizabeth Long?" and received the AI answer:

Nicholas Hawkins was married to Elizabeth Long

. Elizabeth Long, who later became Elizabeth Hawkins, was born around 1704 in Spotsylvania, Virginia, United States and died after September 28, 1768 in the same county. She was the daughter of John Long of St. George Parish and Elizabeth Long. Nicholas Hawkins was from Spotsylvania.

So beware of the answer and check it for yourself.

However I was surfing a bit this afternoon on the internet and found a tidbit that I wanted to save and am in a hurry to post and get back to what I need to do this afternoon.

An interesting will from NC:

Will of Alice Wade dated 25 Apr 1701. Grandsons: John Hawkins, Thomas Hawkins, James Hawkins. Granddaughter: Elizabeth Hawkins. Dau. Elizabeth Long. Grandsons: James Long, Thomas Long. Granddaughter: Mary Long. Exec: Grandson John Hawkins.

I don't have time to do justice to this tidbit, but I don't want to loose it.  A quick try to sort this out would interpret it to mean that Alice was the mother of Elizabeth Long who married Nicholas Hawkins.  A quick look on Ancestry gave me nothing that made any sense.  My own extremely unproven data base records what I believed many years ago.  That the couple Nicholas Hawkins who married Elizabeth Long were each born c.1704 and lived in Spotsylvania County.  So this will does not refer to this couple....I'll have to save this for another time as I have no time for at least a month to look at this more....and I need to look to see if such a will really exists....Anyone have answers for me? These early Hawkins families are sooooooooo hard to sort out!
